Former President Yadav bats for sustainable peace

Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav asserted that the country needed sustainable peace and prosperity.
Talking to journalists in Butwal on Friday, former President Dr Yadav argued that the country could not afford any agitation but peaceful resolution to the issues.
Urging one and all to be effortful for institutionalizing the federal republican system achieved in the country after a long struggle, he said that three-tiers of government should pay attention to addressing the issues facing people. Stating that the constitution had guaranteed the rights of all castes and communities in the country, the first President of the country viewed that all the issues should be resolved through deliberations in parliament.
Yadav also urged the media persons to play the role of watchdog, for he said, that journalists knew a lot about the country. He opined that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons should be made more active and issues should be resolved at national level.
The former President, who is going to address an assembly of Dalit journalists in Palpa district tomorrow, arrived in Rupandehi on Friday.(RSS)
